Habitat
The Gatekeeper is also known as the Hedge Brown, which indicates the
type of place where it can be found. Hedgerows, scrubby grasslands
and woodland rides are typical habitats. The larvae feed on several
grass species.

Conservation Issues
The Gatekeeper is one of our commonest butterflies, and under no
apparent threat at present.
